The project was to dig a well and build a handwashing station in Ampasimbola.
Teena reports:
The project has been successfully completed according to the project plan, with the addition of a washing platform.
The president of ONG Zahatra purchased materials needed for the well, water pump, clothes washing platform, and handwashing station between January through March 2013. 66.44% of the total project money went to the purchase of project supplies.
The work was done by experienced professionals. Members of the village committee assisted with the preparation of the land for the construction of the well and installation of the pump.
The well, water pump, clothes washing platform, and hand washing station are located between the local elementary school and a community center. There are currently 20 children being provided meals from the feeding programs. However, in addition there are 75-100 students who go to the elementary school at any given time and a number of nearby families that will also benefit from the well.
The community responded as follows:
“The ONG ZAHATRA Ampasimbola staff want to say thank you very much for your help well project. Those well, clothes cleaning platform, and handwashing station will be used by the Toby Sambo Community Center, the elementary school (EPP) and all people living in that part of the village. Thank you for your collaboration in our efforts to improve the community.”
