The project was to install a faucet to provide water for the school.
Melissa reports:
The faucet is now up and running! The project went very smoothly.
There were a group of faucet installers in Kouthia Ba, extending the main pipe to a neighboring community. Therefore it was easy to enlist their help in installing the faucet at the school. Then a local mason constructed the cement platform and reinforcement around the actual pipe.
All materials were purchased in the road town of Koumpentoum or at the local weekly market in Kouthia Ba.
She went on to tell us about plans for the future:
My counterpart and I are in the process of starting a school garden and we also hope to install a new hand washing station to the already existing bathrooms. Neither project could have been possible without the installation of the faucet.
We are grateful to The Soneva SLOW LIFE Trust for providing the funding for this successful project.
